In 2021 the inagural Parliamentary Rugby Team vs Kiwifruit Industry Team match was played at Rugby Park in Whakatane, raising funds for the Whakaari White Island victims and their families. The industry and community came together to raise $50,000 to donate to the Eastern Bay Community Foundation and the teams put their heart and soul into the game.
