Village to Village
The Village to Village Charitable Trust's vision is to be an agent of change in the Pacific Islands through the provision of simple technology solutions, training and mentoring, to RSE workers. By improving social and environmental conditions, they provide a platform for ongoing community initiatives and micro-enterprises, creating economic growth.
Some of the funds raised at this years Charity Auction will be directed to V2V to provide Biomass Solar-powered Cookstoves helping families to reduce the harmful environmental and social impacts of open-fire cooking.
Fred’s mission
Fred Hollows was an internationally renowned eye surgeon and humanitarian who worked tirelessly to end avoidable blindness. While it didn’t happen in his life time, we’re working hard to make sure it happens in ours.
The foundation is known for providing cost-effective treatments for sight loss caused by cataract and diabetes eye disease. They also work with Ministries of Health to provide eye care to thousands of patients suffering from other eye conditions. They are in it for the long haul, and won't stop until avoidable blindness is a thing of the past.
A portion of the funds will be directed to the Fred Hollows Foundation, providing funding for much needed cataract surgeries.
Tractors for Tonga
The requests from Tonga for tractors over the past four years has increased dramatically since the eruption. Feedback from Tonga is that they urgently need to plough all of their crop production land that was covered in ash to enhance replanting and there is a known shortage of tractors in Tonga even before the eruption.
Tractors for Tonga are looking for non-electronic diesel Massy Ferguson 135s or David Brown 995s or similar to ship to Tonga to be provided to Women in Agriculture in the first instance, and if enough are gathered they will be hired out at reduced prices for vulnerable families to use.
A portion of the funds will be directed to Tractors for Tonga to purchase a second hand tractor to send to Tonga.
